The characters of the film ICE DOWN are engaged in a constructed process with world hockey champions from the late 1940s. Of the not yet fully clarified motives of the communist leaders, 12 hockey world champions from Stockholm were sentenced to very harsh punishments.
The nation’s darlings have been crushed in uranium mines in the harshest communist crimes over constructed accusations of espionage and treason.
The main theme of our film is forgiveness and the ability to live on despite the personal tragedy of the participating players, who lost the best years of their personal and sports life.
The ambition of this project is to produce a film intended for a wider audience in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The target group of our film are middle-aged women and men, aged 35-55, with secondary and university education, living in the city, with an average and slightly above-average income. Our goal is to produce a film that will be successful in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. With this idea we feature the development of the project since its inception, even by engaging an experienced Czech screenwriter, choosing a theme and environment that is close to both our nations.
At the same time, however, against this background, which is well recognizable to our people, we recall the dark places of our history.
Our society is still not sufficiently confronted with the atrocities committed in communism when it comes to nostalgia for this period. the role of filmmakers is to reflect on our past and thus contribute little to the shaping of our future.
The development of the screenplay was financially supported by the State Fund for Cinematography
